Christianity in Obeying God Today

We can’t help surrendering ourselves to one master or another. We are built for worshipping either God or something else, as our unconscious habits demonstrate every day. And, from my experience living in the U.S., I gather that the most prevalent false god to whom unredeemed people pay homage is the ego, or the self (including any subtle derivations of self). But a life that lives and dies after Christ’s example is consumed by God's never-fading glory. Those who live sacrificially in Christ are trading in corruptible riches for incorruptible ones. If you need confirmation, that a life sacrificed for something greater than the self is a life well-lived, then look at Him who embodies sacrificial living and see the enduring fruit of His efforts. A better-than-average life is one that is spent on a cause that is greater than the oneself. The best life is one spent in surrender to Christ, the Cause to end all causes. All that is shakable must be done away with. Our flesh is shakable. Our self-centeredness is shakable. The sooner these things are done away with the better. Christ has the authority to submit all creation to Himself… glory to God, that includes us! And He is patient enough to start a bunch of know-it-alls like us all over again, from the bare-bones beginning. Therefore, if any of us desire spiritual closeness to Christ, then we should brace ourselves for a devastating deconstruction before we try to say or do anything else. By opening ourselves up to Him we will discover that He is in the business of exploding all our puny expectations. Some churchgoers are fine with adopting Christ as their exclusive Leader… as long as this doesn’t affect their daily lifestyles. And there are some church leaders who approve of the idea that all believers, including themselves, are equally second place to Christ… they agree with this so long as it doesn’t affect the way they run their congregations.
